Terms & Conditions

The following paragraphs are not designed to remove or negate responsibility for the work by Folkestone and Walmer Tiles but are designed to ensure that there is no misunderstanding of the type of work being undertaken.

Our Company prides itself on our extremely high standards of workmanship and as such any unforeseen events that may interfere with the proposed work programme will be explained to you at the time of occurrence or as soon as practicable prior to commencement of works, in the same respect any variation or changes made by you after acceptance of this estimate should be informed to us at least 7 days prior to commencement  of works, we will of course do our utmost to accommodate any changes where possible and to provide you with a revised estimate detailing them if required. To this end we assume that works detailed will be carried out simultaneously, if less tiling is undertaken to that stated or areas to be tiled on separate occasions then return visits are chargeable at our discretion at an hourly or day rate plus the cost of any extra materials. (Rates below).

Unless specifically stated on this estimate we have priced for ceramic or porcelain tiling in straight joint style only, any variation to this assumption must be informed to us as soon as reasonably practicable prior to commencement  of works (ideally 7 days), Fixing materials differ greatly depending on the tile being fixed. Any other works including polished porcelain, natural products, mosaics, pattern work and large format tiles would be priced accordingly to their own merit and if not detailed on this estimate are not included, if on arrival you have chosen any of these other types of tiling we reserve the right under these circumstances to make an additional charge at our sole discretion to the time consuming aspect of these particular types of tiling.

It is the responsibility of the purchaser to check that all boxes of tiles have the same shade number we strongly recommend that all tiles are purchased in the one order to prevent shade variations. We cannot be held responsible for tiles once they have been fixed for shade difference, crazing or any other defects which are inherent in the manufacturing process. Our tiler will check as a matter of course for any cracked or broken tiles during installation.

This estimate assumes that substrates are gypsum boards/plaster or cementitious  mortars  which Class D1 adhesive and Class CG2 grout is suitable for and  has been priced for, adhesives and grouts to adhere to non-standard sub-strates i.e. plywood, chipboard, existing ceramic tiles, insulating panels etc, would be at an additional cost within reason and at our discretion.

When we are estimating for removal of tiles we cannot pre-empt damage to the substrate i.e. plasterboard or hair and lime substrate which often disintegrate once tiles are removed. When we are estimating for removal of floor coverings we endeavour to account for every variable, however we are unable to ascertain the quality of the substrate until the coverings have been removed. Repairs and/or preparation to the walls and floors have not been covered by our estimate unless specifically detailed on this estimate. Any extra work materials and cost to correct these problems will be explained to you prior to commencement of works.

Unless specifically stated on the reverse this estimate does not include the removal of appliances, furniture, fixtures , fittings or other works debris and does NOT include the cost of making  good walls, floors or other parts of the premises. An additional charge may be made if on arrival appliances which hinder our progress have not been removed. We will however on request take away tile debris/packaging even when the tiles are supplied by yourself for disposal, which would be charged at a nominal fee of £10.00 plus Vat which would be in addition to the cost detailed overleaf.  (Due to the increase in regulations for disposal of trade related debris).

We will require access to 240v electricity supply, mains water supply and toilet facilities unless otherwise agreed prior to works.

Payment IN FULL is due on completion of works (or balance where a deposit has been paid) to be paid within 7 SEVEN DAYS. Late payments may incur interest at the rate of3% above the base lending rate of Nat West Bank plc from the due date until the date of payment. We reserve the right to claim under the Late Payment of Debt (Interest) Act 1998. We accept payment by   cheque cash BACS, or any credit/debit card. The entire title for all goods and services carried out under this estimate remain the property of Folkestone and Walmer Tiles Ltd until the account is settled in full. We will exercise our statutory rights to claim interest and compensation for debt recovery costs under the late payment legislation if you do not pay us in accordance with our agreed terms.

We are members of the Federation of Small Businesses and Dover Chamber of Commerce. Our combined certificate of Employers Liability and Public Liability insurance is available for inspection at both our branches, one in Deal and the other at Folkestone or a copy can be made on request.

Our current hourly rate for return visits, additional works unspecified breakages etc are £30 per hour plus any materials used and Vat at the prevailing rate.

Our estimate is open for acceptance for a period  of  NINETY days (subject to no price increases on tiles or materials)  We recommend and use  Mapei/Granfix adhesives, grouts and sealants and Schluter/ Tileasy  wall  and floor edge  profiles and LTP sealants and cleaners.
